I found you
in the garden
with the ants and bees and all the rest
(beetles, maybe?)
and a healthy smattering of soil
between your toes
and should I say?
the only thing that clothed you
was the wind
and several grasses overhanging you
I felt your beauty as a force
of nature, warm and cruel
I plucked a blossom on that day
the best that I could find
but imagine my surprise when
you shuddered
to be plucked—
hello world! (and poem)
Welcome to my blog! Here’s a basic introduction of what I want to do here. There’s a spicy sapphic poem at the end if you want to skip all that.
Firstly, I want to keep this blog rather light. I’m not using Wordpress or any other pre-existing blogging service (Wordpress in particular just gives me a headache). I’m keeping this place light and simple enough for me to dig into the html myself if things go wrong. I’m using this project—the whole site—to teach myself basic html, with the significant added benefit of finally getting a working “author site” up on the internet. I want a nice place where all my links and work can live; a place that I control.
Secondly, I want this blog to be an expression of my creativity. I work in words, primarily, so you should expect a good deal of creative writing projects posted here. However, I also run a lot of tabletop RPGs, and a lot of my creativity goes into that. If I feel like something I’ve made for a game would be interesting to readers, I’ll post it here, too.
I’ll work to create a custom archive page, most likely updated manually, so I can keep all of my projects organized by topic or project—in addition to the standard chronological archive page. I’ll be using RSS, since that should be easy for me to manually update. I’ll probably use a little automation in generating the chronological archive page, but that’s all I’m planning on for now. Of course, as I learn html, that could change!
In any case, thanks for reading! Hopefully by the time you reach this post, I’ll have added more interesting things to read on here. In lieu of that, have a sapphic love poem (mild/medium spice!) in honor of my fiancee, Stella LaRoh.
