While I specialize in fantasy and science fiction and will most likely accept work in that genre, I’m open to read for any style of fiction if you have a strong pitch. And, as a member of the queer community (I am a white, transgender, nonbinary lesbian), I can offer a sensitivity read as the main focus of, or in addition to, a general beta read.

I offer a full readthrough of your manuscript with both targeted, inline editorial comments, and general feedback on the premise, characters, dialog, plot structure, and any other areas of concern you might have. You will receive your choice of:
A standalone document with general comments, and inline comments denoted by manuscript page and line (.docx or .pdf); or
A copy of your original manuscript document with inline comments included (.docx), plus a standalone document with general comments (.docx or .pdf).
I charge $8 per 1,000 manuscript words. For example, the base cost for engaging me in a beta read for a 50,000 word manuscript would be $400.
Generally, it will take me 2-3 weeks to beta read 50,000 words; however, we can work out specific deadlines based on your needs.
Proofreading
I offer a full proofread of your manuscript grammar, spelling and writing style according to industry standards for speculative fiction. My speciality is in science fiction and fantasy. Should you commision me for a full proofread, you will receive a copy of your original manuscript (.docx) with my editorial changes fully tracked and ready for your approval, in addition to a version of the manuscript with all changes already applied. Both versions will include inline comments on matters of style and usage that I leave to your discretion as the author.
I charge $18 per 1,000 words. For example, the base cost for engaging me in a proofread for a 50,000 word manuscript would be $900.
Generally, it will take me 4 weeks to proofread 50,000 words; however, we can work out specific deadlines based on your needs.
Combined Beta- and Proofread
Should you wish me to both beta read and proofread your manuscript, you will receive a copy of your original manuscript (.docx) with both beta-read and proofread changes fully tracked and ready for your approval, in addition to a version of the manuscript with all proofreading changes already applied. If you wish, I can certainly prepare a separate document detailing my high-level beta-read concerns separately from the proofread.
